Gerald Wright's Movie Coverage  of the
NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL LATINO FILM FESTIVAL
July 27 to August 1, 2010:
Christopher B. Kerson

Dear Friends,

Daniel Hendricks Simon, Alexandra Eitel and myself
(Chris Kerson) have formed a production company
Junkyard Treasure Productions. Our first production
'Late Night Cage Entertainment' is complete. We
have uploaded 2 rough excerpts to show you the work
we have been doing -- one with Alexandra and myself
and 1 with Mark Borkowkski.

All of the actors involved in this project are so talented
they could each carry a film by themselves. I may be
biased because I helped cast them. The reaction to
Dan’s rough cut screening was very favorable.
Stay tuned for further information concerning future screenings and/or other excerpts.

Dear Friends:

I finished the film “Angel Jellyfish” with Bulgarian director Kristina Nikolova.  Kristina had previously DP’d at least 7 films in L.A. and produced 3 features in Bulgaria featuring actors like Armand Assante and Ben Cross.  I loved working with Kristina and I got to play a volatile, unpredictable, and maybe sensual, husband in an abusive relationship; the 7-minute film has a very unusual twist.  The film is currently being submitted to festivals.

Review by Kristin Forte

4 Adults Only is an evening of four short tales written by Mark Borkowski. Each work presents a different and challenging fly-on-the-wall view for the audience.

...

Don't Listen To What It Sounds Like is an extremely well-acted reunion of two people who once had something in common. Christopher B. Kerson shines as the best male lead of the set, playing Floyd, a fragile and troubled man visiting his old friend Gretchen (aptly played by Judy Jerome). Directed by Robert Haufrecht, this glimpse into the lives of strangers grips the audience and leaves them wanting more.

THE RIDE
The film production of Late Night Entertainment is now complete. We put a lot of hard work and rehearsals into this film in a Mike Leigh / early Arthur Penn way.

A New York Jewish avant-garde playwright becomes involved with cocaine and softcore pornography in Prauge. Can he make a comeback in New York trying to produce something that could be part of a Zeigeist of our times - a film that will cram softcore pornography and political satire into the same DVD? Can he convince and romance Ally, a Jewish-American princess from Westchester to tap into her family's financial resources to make his film? Or will Ally subscribe to another agenda and pursue Todd, an industry virgin who has written a personal and precious story that Ally sees the potential in, pending a 'few' more sex scenes?

Thanks again for all your support!

Best,

Chris

I play the drug supplier these actors from the Actors Studio are trying to fool in a fake drug deal. The actors are impersonating undercover cops impersonating drug buyers. You can see how well I react to figuring out something is wrong.

Here's what Cinequest has to say about the movie:  "Most films, even the great ones, fade away like mist once you've left the theater. Not this one ... with unforgettable performances by leads Christopher Kerson and Will Blagrove and a powerful writing/directing debut by Sean Kirkpatrick make for a startling tale where the demons we fight at home may be worse than those we face on foreign soil."
"I found the Tommy Donahue character intriquing and powerful. Chris Kerson gave a great performance as a good guy/villain."

Was the 3rd lead in this new feature by Independent Spirit Award Nominee  Tim McCann,  whose films  have won awards at Toronto Int'l Film Festival,  Telluride Film Festival, Rotterdam Int'l Film Festival, and numerous other festivals. In the film, "Zero in the System", I play a crooked cop dealing with drug-related crime in a predominantly African American district in Nyack.
